Rural Econ strategy

Treasurer’s Report Edie J. reported that there’s been no change since last month.

Election Report   Discussion surrounded the budget. $3100.00 aproved

Signature Gathering on State Property:

Rex Derr and Don Hoch from WA State Parks Dept talked about recent incident on State Park

Property where signature gatherers were told they could not gather ballot signatures on State property. Rex said that was a mistake on the part of the officials and it IS ok to gather sigs on state lands.

Lengthy discussion re State trail system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other Business

Rural Service Van Proposal

Dick F drafted a letter to address a proposed county program in which the county would create vans that would drive around the county

To provide a mobile service to residents so they do not have to drive into Seattle to take care of business.

The letter was read aloud in which content recommends the proposal be canceled. Ensuing discussion...motion to approve. Unanimous approval with a paragraph added which suggests that in lieu of the Van idea that county partner with other governmental agencies to utilize their facilities.

 

Bob Davis removed as UAC member due to poor attendance.

                                                                                                                                                                                          

New Business

 

Dave Dahlin purchased a 7 DVD set on the building history of Chicago and suggested the UAC purchase and utilize to show County officials

How to build out a county without urban sprawl.

Sharon S discussed lack of progress on Cedar Grove Compost site which emits foul odors. She will try to set up another

Meeting with officials to come to UAC.

 

September 7th UAC forum at Highline UAC in Burien.

 

Dave D met with Dick Bonewitts of Maple Valley UAC regarding the CAO meeting the Rural Economic Strategy. Dave disagrees
