Deputy's Report:

_

Deputy Maxwell reported the latest numbers:

- Burglaries:  down
- Auto Thefts: down to 4 in December
- Larcenies: down from 15 to 14 in December

Deputy Maxwell  commented that residential and commercial burglaries were down for the past month.

Discussion of identity theft. Mostly via computer these days versus mail box.

Locking mail boxes are a good idea…can buy one for about $80 locally.

Discussion of drug houses. You can help by jotting down license plate numbers of cars that "stop by" suspected houses. Also call for contact officer or neighborhood drug enforcement team in Maple Valley.

Question posed "on a 4 lane road with double yellow stripe, can a car pass a school bus stopped in right lane of oncoming traffic?" Answer is YES.

Marshall Brenden's report on Property Workshop held by DDES in December

_

Marshall reported on the  DDES class he attended called "what can I do with my property" that was to include the latest on the CAO.  Limited information was provided on the CAO with more information to be provided on January 28th.  Much of the data available for permit processing can be reviewed on web site Metrokc.gov/ddes.  Also you can bring up county codes, mapping resources, and property taxes.  Permit cost are estimates only with the final cost dependent on the hours spent by DDES at the rate of $144.90 per man hour.  One must realize there are many incidental costs associated with permits and if you need a permit ask lots of questions. In the rural area if you want to do anything with your plan you will need a stewardship or a farm plan or a forestry plan or perhaps all three.  Public rules governing the CAO has been released to the public with a 45 day period for public comment and expected to become law shortly thereafter unless the County Council decides to extend that period or take further testimony.  That is not expected to happen. The County's TV channel will broadcast part or all of this 4 hour meeting from time to time. Check you schedule.  There will be 2 CAO DDES workshops one on January 28th and one on February 25th.  The 28th is full but Dave Irons will try and get a couple of seats for 4 creeks representatives.

King County councilman David Irons was present and asked to speak on current issues

_

Discuss of redistricting. The plan that was approved closely resembles Map D. Urban league disgruntled along with other organizations. Reagan Dunn probable appointee to replace Rob McKenna in district 6. David Irons may move to either new district (9or 6) and run in November for council seat.

CAO talk…implementation not going smoothly (not on prop title, and no charge for tech support yet still charging). President of council still Larry Phillips.

Discussion of recent Governor's race: Dean Logan takes orders from Ron Simms and can not do his job according to state regulations due to conflict of interest.

Edie Jorgensen Read letter from former Secretary of UAC Gwen High regarding CARE annexation meeting which is to be held at the Lord of Life church on Jan 26th from 6-8 pm. Topic is Renton city limits to Urban Growth Boundary.

Motion to appoint Lisa to fill District 6 from temp at large. Motion made by D. Fackenthall, 2nd M. Brenden.. Motion passed unanimously. Y=Yes, N=Nay, A=Abstaion

Sharon Schimke gave a brief report update on Cedar Grove composting.

_

Dick Griffin from PS Clean Air says that KC refused to pass the inspection for the new "gore" system. The ground needs to be increased by five feet. Once that is done they will re-test the soil/ground. After the test passes then they will hold public meeting and issue permits to construct the systems. There is a 1 year estimate to begin construction as the system needs to be built in the winter months. In the mean time one of the old systems is down and is being rebuilt. All the compost must be stirred up every 2 days and this causes the odor problems. All extra material is being sent to Stewart Island. We need to call every time there is a problem…24 hours a day. 1-800-552-3565.

Lisa Taylor found that Sewer/Septic/Sewage issues for May Valley come under the Health Dept Clean Water jurisdiction.

Rick Spence informed council that May Creek is no longer considered a fish supporting creek. Also UAC to take a position on CAO

Meeting adjourned at 9:12 pm
