Two key cycles in 2007-2008

During 2007-2008 two key cycles coincide. One is the 10-year update of the King County Charter and the other is the 4-year substantive update of the King County Comprehensive Plan.

Starting in March both begin to be deliberated by the King County Council. (See below)

Through Summer 2008: KC Comprehensive Plan

This year's King County Comprehensive Plan update allows for substantive changes, something that only occurs every 4 years.

Beginning March 11, 2008 the King County Council Growth Management & Natural Resources Committee (GM&NR) begins reviewing the Executive's proposed changes to the King County's Comprehensive Plan (KCCP).  The GM&NR Committee continues work on the submittal until approximately October 6th when it expects the full Council to take action on the GM&NR recommendations.

Information about the KCCP update can be found on the King County website

A summary list of all the publicly submitted docket items is available.

Reagan Dunn is our King County Council representative. Information about how to contact him, or any other County Councilmember can be found on the Council homepage.

Comprehensive Plan Docket items submitted by FCUAC members are available.

Comprehensive Plan Public Involvement

A series of five community public hearings has now concluded, but you can submit written testimony online. Testimony will be also taken at regularly scheduled meetings of the King County Council's Growth Management and Natural Resources Committee throughout the spring and summer of 2008.  Their meeting schedule and agendas are posted here.

More information is available on the King County web site.

King County Charter Review

A minimum of every 10 years the King County Charter is reviewed and updated if necessary.  In the Spring of 2007, this review cycle began and will culminate with a public vote in November, 2008 for any items recommended by the King County Council.  The public comment period for the Charter Review runs from April 1, 2008 through April 21, 2008 including four town-hall meetings and written comments.

A full schedule along with a full report on the CRC activities can be found at the Charter Review website.
